Yes, I am done. I may just add a tad of dark tonight but what I have is submittable to festivals.
The final quality is better then some worse then others but I would say it has to be one of the best made for under 1000. not counting labor. Lot of free work done on this one. So what is next, festivals and more festivals. I have to write a bio or get someone to write a bio for festivals. Nothing like self promotion I hate sales. My buisness card. If I had one would read " if you need this you wont call me, If you will call me you dont need this" At any rate I made a quick bio and my better half is taking all of the lies out of it as we speak.
Now I take a break play some video games watch some movies I go to Reno June 10th with my two best friends. There will be no talking of Merlot or Sans Vie. Oh Sans vie
Melissa Roberts has accepted the Role of Jolie. I'm really excited to have her on the project. Next I need to audition Sahra Maya for the part of Paige. I'm currently getting the script transtlated to French. This break will be nice I need it. Oh and Eric Thomas, AKA jesus (little j) has shown an interest in being the AD on Sans Vie. I think he is serious if so that will make the flick about 200 times better then if he was not involved the guy brings a total since of professionalism and skill that I lack. I really shoot way to much from the hip. But I'm learning.
Ask for Merlot at your local Film Festival and screw sideways Merlot is good, plus its easy to say.

Dont cry over Spilt wine

So I was watching my video lock of the project to get an idea and make notes on audio. There is a scene where Miriam accidently tips over a bottle of wine. Robert Stands to offer assistance, she spins around and tells him to sit down. This is a great disruption scene you want something like that every 4 scenes
Scene 1 Tim says Hi to Shelly
Scene 2 Tim and Shelly walk their friends house
Scene 3 Tim and Shelly Sit in their friends house talking with their friend Gary about life
Scene 4 Tim and Gary get in a fight Gary strikes Tim
Scene 5 Tim and Shelly leave
Scene 6 Tim and Shelly sit by a creek and shelly comforts Tim
Scene 7 Tim and shelly walk home by a cow field
Scene 8 A cow explodes
You get the idea wake your audience up every 4 scenes or so.
At any rate in this instance she tips the bottle over becomes frustrated and trying to keep her cool but being on edge yells God just sit down!
The scene the way I had it worked. The message came across and the scenes cut together nicely.

I just thought it could be better I always did it didn’t seem like you could see her expression because of the angle. Sooooooooo even though it worked and I needed to move things along as I’m about a month behind now. I recut the scene and Oh my lord!!!! It is awesome. It went from being

I’m happy. I still hate editing but that was fun to see a quick positive result.

BURN BABY BURN

I spent all of yesterday being sick and burning through about 20DVDs. I hate editing.
Couldn’t get my stupid DVD burner to work. Turned out that the format I was saving my clips at was not compatible with either my burner or the software or the DVD . I don’t know which because I just had to figure it out there was no documentation on the web for the error I was recieiving. I could go into details but your error will be different. Luckily I had a lot of DVD’s to screw up. Bottom line it would have sucked to only had 3 or 4 and then had to run to the store to get 3 or 4 more over and over and over. So buy a lot of DVD/’s to burn. I finally did get it burned last night and watched what I thought was the video lock...Thought was the video lock.

Ok so everyone thought the minatour was a bit nine inch nails looking. I removed it. Although the band has its merits that is not the look or feel I'm going for. Most of the sites I work on are fairly germanic because I'm not a webdesigner. Add to wishlist Webdesigner, Editor and meet howie mandel. I'm still editing did I mention I think I have a video lock(insane laughter) yeah I think I have had a video lock about 700 times. I really really really need to lock it tonight and move it along a bit. seeing as how I was suppose to have a video lock the second week of april.

Found my minatour

It wasnt that I couldnt sleep its that I woke up at 3am fully of creative energy. This is still odd to me 4 hours later seeing as I went to bed at 11:30 Pm last night after 3 hours of editing. So what did I do with this energy. I came up with a nice concept for marketing a project that all of these shorts and work are leading up to. Granted I still have to do some grammer checking(big suprise) and rework the first letter but here it is.

So I belong to this film maker forum and although there are many people on there doing what they are talking about there are many just talking. So I have to comment.
Words and phrases that should not exists in a filmmakers vocabulary this includes actors writers directors etc.

Welcome to the pit of despair. God do I hate editing. No I don’t hate it I loathe it.
I’m so close to finishing I can taste it. I have a video lock on the whole project and I just need to do sound. Cant quite make it cant reach ugh sigh.
I think I need about 7 more good nights of sleep and some amnesias pills.Here is my tip to you Get an editor early on. Someone who loves star trek and French films. Feed them a lot and keep them happy. This way you don’t have to edit.

Editing and Obsessive Compulisve disorder

I dont think I will ever be finished editing. This has got to be the hardest part of the whole gig.
Dont fool yourself into thinking it will be fun an easy
Editing is a serious test on your relationship with your Signicant other and your own stamina.
I do finally have a video lock though now I just need to work out bugs on the sound
So what did I use
I used
ULead some basic standard editing tool. That is all you need. Dont trip yourself up thinking you need Final Cut Pro or Adobe if this is your first project. You just need something to do cuts on and lay audio over. I'm finding now how serious audio is. TURN REFRIGERATORS OFF!!! Trust me. And dont think well we can dub it later. Later there wont be lights and cameras and excitment and your actors and sound people will not be able to agree on times to meet and it wont happen. Yes I'm speaking from some experiance.
So I do have some exciting news to report
I finished my second short script "Sans Vie" and I will be meeting with the two princple actors next week. I love the writing, directing and production end of this. and I hate the editing end, that is why I'm typing in this blog space and avoiding the editing. UGH!
